Question 1

How do I start a custom rod build?

Accepted Answer

Choose the Redfish, Speckled trout, or Nearshore saltwater preset to fill all eight component groups, or start a Custom build by choosing each option yourself. The builder asks for Target species, Water type, Rod length, Power, Action, Handle + seat, Guide train, and Reel pairing, in that order. Changing any component turns a preset into a Custom build. Reset selections clears every choice. Request This Build becomes available after all eight groups have a selection.

Question 2

Which target species can I choose?

Accepted Answer

The current Target species choices, in catalog order, are:
Redfish — balanced power for flats, marsh edges, and long runs.
Speckled trout — light, quick, and sensitive for clean presentations over grass and flats.
Snook + tarpon — extra lifting power for mangroves, passes, and explosive takes.
Cobia — a sturdy nearshore build for structure and close-quarters work.
Kingfish — long casts and fast runs with room for heavier leader.
Largemouth bass — a crisp, versatile setup for docks, grass, and open water.

Question 3

What water types are available?

Accepted Answer

Choose from these current Water type options, in order:
Flats + backcountry — light in hand, accurate in skinny water, ready for a long day.
Mangrove + creek — quick recovery and compact control when the cast window is tight.
Jetties + passes — extra resilience for current, rock, and fish turning toward cover.
Nearshore Gulf — built to stay composed around boat rails, structure, and wind.
Lakes + rivers — a clean, responsive everyday setup beyond the salt.

Question 4

How should I choose rod length, power, and action?

Accepted Answer

Rod length choices are listed as follows:
6'6" — tight quarters and quick target acquisition.
7'0" — the all-around Gulf starting point.
7'6" — more reach and line control across open flats.
8'0" — casting leverage for open water and wind.

Power choices:
Light — finesse, feel, and a lively fight on lighter line.
Medium light — a delicate tip with backbone for everyday inshore fish.
Medium — a versatile workhorse for changing Gulf conditions.
Medium heavy — more authority around current, cover, and heavier leaders.

Action choices:
Fast — crisp lure response and precise placement.
Moderate fast — a blend of feel, distance, and a fish-fighting curve.
Moderate — smooth loading for live bait, treble hooks, and long casts.

Question 5

Which handle, guide, and reel options can I choose?

Accepted Answer

Handle + seat choices:
Split cork + exposed seat — classic warmth with a direct, lightweight feel.
Full cork grip — comfort-forward control for long days and cold mornings.
EVA + fighting butt — a tougher, easy-rinse grip for heavier Gulf work.
Carbon split grip — minimal weight and a sharp, modern contact point.

Guide train choices:
SaltShield stainless — dependable corrosion resistance for regular Gulf use.
Fuji K-series — tangle-shedding performance for braid and quick casts.
Titanium elite — lighter, tougher, and built for a lifetime of salt.

Reel pairing choices:
2500 inshore — light and nimble for finesse presentations and skinny water.
3000 Gulf all-rounder — the practical center of gravity for most inshore builds.
4000 structure — more line capacity and drag for current and cover.
6000 nearshore — a stronger pairing for larger fish and longer runs.

The current catalog has no evidence-backed reel pairing rules, so it makes no recommendation; all four reels remain selectable.

Question 6

What does the rod builder estimate include?

Accepted Answer

The current base build is $289.00. Each component option displays its price adjustment, and the builder updates the estimated total from the selected components. The amount is an estimate, not a final quote or payment. After you send a request, a builder will confirm the final details and price with you.

Question 7

How do I send a build request?

Accepted Answer

Select all eight component groups and choose Request This Build. The request page receives your selected rod, preset or Custom status, and estimate as read-only values. Enter your Full name and Email (both required); Phone is optional. You can review the form steps and go back to edit them before choosing Send request. After a successful submission, the page says a builder will follow up to confirm details and final price, and displays a reference for you to keep. If the page opens without a valid completed build, use Return to the rod builder to make or reset your selections.

Question 8

What should I do if the request form shows an error or I am unsure it went through?

Accepted Answer

For a validation error, correct the highlighted fields; your answers are kept. If no field is highlighted, reload in case the form changed. If receipt is uncertain, keep the page open and retry the original unchanged request; while the result is uncertain, the form keeps those answers locked. After a conflict message, reload to get the current form before starting again. After a rate limit, keep the page open, wait up to 15 minutes, then retry the original request. Do not assume the request was received until the confirmation and reference appear.

Question 9

What are the shipping costs and build timelines?

Accepted Answer

Custom-rod shipping prices, destinations, and build or fulfillment timelines are not published in the current app. Ask the builder to confirm those details during follow-up. The builder will confirm what is available for your request; no shipping destination or completion date is promised here.
